How long does BIAB really last?

How Long Does BIAB Really Last?

If you’re thinking about trying BIAB, one of the first questions you’ll probably ask is, “How long will it last?”

The honest answer is that for most people, a professionally applied BIAB manicure lasts around three to four weeks. However, how long it stays looking its best depends on several factors, including your lifestyle, how quickly your nails grow and how well you care for them at home.

What is BIAB?

BIAB stands for Builder in a Bottle. It’s a strengthening gel that’s applied over your natural nails to help them grow while providing a beautiful, long-lasting finish.

Many of my clients choose BIAB because they want stronger, healthier-looking nails without the need for extensions. Whether you prefer a simple nude finish or detailed nail art, BIAB provides a strong base that helps your manicure last.

Why does BIAB last so well?

The secret isn’t just the product itself. It starts with thorough nail preparation.

Every appointment begins with careful cuticle work, shaping the nails correctly and preparing the nail plate so the product adheres properly. Rushing this stage can lead to lifting much sooner than expected.

That’s why I never cut corners. Good preparation is the foundation of a long-lasting manicure.

What affects how long your BIAB lasts?

There are a few things that can make a difference:

Your nails grow quickly. You work with your hands a lot.You use cleaning products without gloves. You pick or peel your nails. You regularly apply cuticle oil to keep your nails healthy and flexible.

Small daily habits often make the biggest difference.

How can you make your BIAB last longer?

Looking after your nails between appointments is just as important as the treatment itself.

Here are a few simple tips:

Apply cuticle oil every day.Wear gloves when cleaning or gardening.Avoid using your nails as tools.Don’t pick at any lifting. If you notice a problem, get in touch so it can be checked before it becomes worse.

When should you book your next appointment?

I generally recommend returning every three to four weeks.

Leaving your BIAB on for much longer can allow the balance of the nail to change as it grows. Regular maintenance keeps your nails looking beautiful while helping to protect your natural nails.

My approach

Every set of nails is different because every client is different.

Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, I tailor each manicure to your natural nails, your lifestyle and your goals. My aim is always to help you achieve beautiful nails that not only look great when you leave the salon but continue looking great until your next appointment.

If you’re looking for a calm, one-to-one appointment in Parbold and would like to find out whether BIAB is right for you, I’d love to welcome you to Alexandra’s.

BIAB vs Gel Polish: What’s the Difference?

One of the questions I’m asked most often is:

“Should I choose BIAB or gel polish?”

The truth is, neither is better than the other. They simply do different jobs.

The right choice depends on your natural nails, your lifestyle and what you’re hoping to achieve.

What is gel polish?

Gel polish is a long-lasting colour that’s cured under an LED lamp. It’s perfect if your natural nails are already strong and you’re simply looking for a beautiful manicure that won’t chip after a few days.

With the right care, gel polish can last around two to three weeks while keeping its glossy finish.

What is BIAB?

BIAB stands for Builder in a Bottle.

Unlike gel polish, BIAB is designed to add strength to your natural nails. It’s ideal if your nails are weak, flexible or prone to breaking, or if you’re trying to grow them longer.

It creates a stronger foundation while still looking natural and elegant.

Which one is right for you?

You might prefer gel polish if:

Your nails are naturally strong. You like changing your colour regularly. You don’t need extra strength.

You might prefer BIAB if:

Your nails bend or split easily. You’re trying to grow your natural nails. You want extra durability. You’d like your manicure to last longer between appointments.

There’s no one-size-fits-all answer

One thing I always tell new clients is that I won’t recommend a treatment just because it’s popular.

I’ll look at your natural nails, ask about your lifestyle and talk through your options before deciding what will work best for you.

Sometimes gel polish is exactly the right choice.

Sometimes BIAB is.

My goal is to recommend what’s best for your nails, not what’s trending on social media.

Looking after your nails

Whichever treatment you choose, healthy nails start with good aftercare.

Using cuticle oil every day, wearing gloves for household cleaning and avoiding picking at your manicure will all help keep your nails looking beautiful for longer.

My approach at Alexandra’s

What’s the Best Pedicure to Choose?

What’s the Best Pedicure to Choose?

If you’ve ever looked at a treatment menu and wondered, “Which pedicure should I book?”, you’re definitely not alone.

One of the questions I’m asked most often is which pedicure is best. The answer is simple… it depends on what your feet need.

Whether you’re looking for a quick refresh, silky smooth heels or a luxurious hour of pampering, there’s a treatment that’s perfect for you.

Gel Toes

If your feet are already in good condition and you simply want long-lasting colour, Gel Toes is a great choice.

Your nails will be shaped, cuticles tidied and your chosen gel colour applied for a glossy finish that can last for weeks.

Perfect if you want:

Beautiful colourLong-lasting shineLow-maintenance toes

Luxury Pedicure

Sometimes your feet deserve more than just a fresh coat of colour.

A Luxury Pedicure includes nail care, hard skin removal, exfoliation, a nourishing mask and a relaxing foot and lower leg massage before finishing with your choice of gel polish or traditional polish.

It’s one of the most relaxing treatments I offer and is ideal if you’d like to treat yourself while giving your feet some well-deserved care.

Perfect if you want:

Soft, refreshed feetTime to relaxA little bit of luxury

Elim Pedicure

If your feet need a little more attention, my Elim Pedicure is often the best choice.

Unlike a traditional pedicure, Elim uses professional products specifically designed to soften hard skin and calluses without the need for harsh blades.

The treatment leaves your feet feeling incredibly smooth while helping to improve the overall condition of your skin.

Many clients are amazed by the difference after just one appointment.

Perfect if you have:

Hard skinDry or cracked heelsCallusesFeet that need some extra care

Which one would I recommend?

One thing I never do is recommend the most expensive treatment just because it’s on the menu.

If you’re unsure what to book, I’ll happily assess your feet when you arrive and recommend the treatment that will give you the best results.

Sometimes a simple Gel Toes appointment is all you need.

Other times, your feet will benefit much more from a Luxury or Elim Pedicure.

My priority is making sure you leave with feet that not only look great but feel amazing too.

Looking after your feet between appointments

Keeping your feet in great condition doesn’t stop when you leave the salon.

A few simple habits can make a big difference:

Moisturise your feet every day.Gently use a foot file if recommended.Wear well-fitting shoes.Book regular pedicures to maintain healthy feet instead of waiting until they’re uncomfortable.

Healthy feet carry us through life every single day. They deserve just as much care as our hands.

Ready to book?

Whether you’re preparing for a holiday, treating yourself to a little self-care or simply want healthier feet, I’d love to help.

If you’re not sure which pedicure to choose, don’t worry. We’ll decide together so you receive the treatment that’s right for your feet.

What’s the best treatment for weak nails?

What’s the Best Treatment for Weak Nails?

If your nails are constantly breaking, peeling or splitting, you’re probably wondering if there’s anything that can actually help.

The good news is yes, there often is. But the best treatment isn’t the same for everyone.

Weak nails can be caused by everyday wear and tear, frequent hand washing, gardening, your job, age, hormonal changes or simply the way your natural nails grow. That’s why I always start by looking at your nails before recommending a treatment.

Signs your nails may need extra support

You may benefit from a strengthening treatment if your nails:

Peel in layers.Split easily.Bend or feel very thin.Break before they can grow.Chip regularly.

Many clients think their nails are “just weak”, but with the right care they can often become much stronger over time.

Is BIAB the answer?

For many people, BIAB is an excellent choice.

Builder in a Bottle is designed to add strength and protection to your natural nails while allowing them to grow underneath. It isn’t about creating thick, heavy nails. When applied correctly, it provides support while still looking natural.

However, BIAB isn’t automatically the right treatment for everyone.

If your natural nails are already healthy and strong, a gel polish manicure may be all you need.

Looking beyond the product

One thing I always tell my clients is that no product can fix unhealthy nail habits on its own.

Strong nails are built through a combination of:

The right treatment.Professional nail preparation.Regular maintenance appointments.Daily cuticle oil.Avoiding picking or peeling products.

These simple habits often make the biggest difference.

My recommendation

I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach.

At your first appointment, I’ll assess the condition of your natural nails, chat about your lifestyle and discuss what you’re hoping to achieve.

From there, I’ll recommend the treatment that will give you the healthiest, longest-lasting results. Sometimes that’s BIAB. Sometimes it’s gel polish. Occasionally, the best option is to spend some time improving the health of your natural nails first.

My goal is never just to create beautiful nails for today. It’s to help you have stronger, healthier nails in the long term.

Ready to start your healthy nail journey?

If you’re tired of weak, brittle nails and aren’t sure where to begin, I’d love to help.

Together, we’ll find the treatment that’s right for your nails and create a plan to help them become stronger with every appointment.
